Modern Farmhouse Lighting: Radiant Fixtures That'll Brighten Your Abode

Placement, Quality, and Style: Why Lighting is So Important in Any Home

A commonly underlooked characteristic of great interior design is the way light is utilized within a space. Whether you examine a modern farmhouse interior, a contemporary style interior, or anything else in between, one thing should always be true: the lighting should be strategically placed using quality lighting fixtures.

Just as the furniture you select or the color palette you choose can affect the way you move and feel within a room, lighting is no different. This is something you already implicitly know, it just may be something you’re only aware of subconsciously.

There are a number of reasons lighting is so important when it comes to interior design, but here are the big three:

  1. It sets the mood.

Want to create a space that’s warm and inviting? You’ll probably want to select fixtures and bulbs that give off a softer, warmer glow, such as edison bulbs.

  1. It can highlight your home’s best features.

Accent lighting is perfect for (quite literally) shining a light on artwork, unique architectural features, or anything else you want to use to impress anyone who enters the room.

  1. It’s helpful.

A lighting fixture used for a specific purpose is called task lighting. Strategically place task lighting in areas where you need ease-of-sight, like the kitchen or your home office.

Now that we’ve established why it’s important not to forget about lighting when designing your home, let’s get on to the fun part – lighting fixtures! While we offer a wide range of farmhouse lighting, the following fixtures are some of our favorites of the season. These are especially great for modern farmhouse or industrial farmhouse spaces.

Metal Ceiling Pendant Cage Light

Caged lighting is one of the hottest trends of 2018 and it shows no signs of letting up into 2019. Professional and amateur decorators are choosing caged lighting for farmhouse and industrial style homes to help imbue a more vintage feel with lighting fixtures. Edison bulbs like the one included with this fixture are also incredibly popular at the moment and are rapidly becoming a hallmark of the farmhouse style.

Cloche Glass Table Lamp

Lighting fixtures with glass cloches around the bulbs are another incredibly popular modern farmhouse trend. Glass cloches became popular in the 19th century, but thanks to a resurgence in vintage-themed interiors, they’re back and better than ever! This lamp would serve well as task lighting on an office desk or in on an entryway console table.

Concrete Edison Table Lamp

Concrete table lamps are great for making an industrial-era statement. If you’re working with a more contemporary space with clean lines and a neutral color palette, this lamp would be a perfect fit. The accompanying Edison light bulb provides this modern piece with balance, warmth and a touch of nostalgic flair.

Black Marble Table Lamp

Looking for something understated or masculine? This table lamp is your go-to. Black is a bold accent color that is now a common first-choice for modern farmhouse decorators. Combined with the Edison bulb, this lamp provides a beautiful warm glow. Place this fixture in a game room, man cave, or even your bedside table.
